In a recent Art class at Coombswood School, learners had the opportunity to explore the expressive possibilities of clay through the creation of personalised handprint sculptures. This practical and imaginative session encouraged learners to engage with the material while gaining an understanding of form, texture, and artistic technique.
Each student crafted a unique clay handprint, embedding their personality and creativity into the piece. More than just an art project, the activity offered a tactile experience that deepened learners’ appreciation of clay as a medium, a material with rich cultural and historical significance in the world of art.
Principal Snita Verma praised the project, saying:
“Creative expression is a powerful way for our learners to connect with their individuality and explore new skills. Activities like this help to develop confidence and curiosity, and we are incredibly proud of the thought and effort that went into every sculpture.”
The finished handprints will serve as lasting mementos of each learner’s creativity, a literal imprint of their growth and learning at Coombswood School.
