On 8th May 2025, learners and staff at Coombswood School united in a moving tribute to mark VE Day, honouring those who bravely fought for freedom and peace during the Second World War.
The day began with a moment of quiet reflection, as the entire school stood still to remember the courage and sacrifice of those who served. This solemn observance was followed by a joyful celebration in true 1940s style—a traditional street party complete with flags, sandwiches, and games.
The event offered both a valuable opportunity for historical learning and a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the heroes of the past. Learners engaged in discussions about the significance of VE Day and enjoyed coming together as a school community to commemorate the occasion.
Snita Verma, Principal said:
“It’s so important that our learners understand the meaning behind commemorative days like VE Day. Today was not only about remembering history, but also about celebrating the freedoms we enjoy thanks to those who came before us. It was a proud and reflective moment for our whole school.”
